Swedish mezzo-soprano Alexandra Olsson Andersen is an award-winning singer and actor based in New York. Growing up in the corridors of the Royal Swedish Opera, surrounded by both ballet and music, she began taking singing and dance lessons at an early age — and never once doubted what she wanted to dedicate her life to. A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music (M.M. Voice Performance, 2023), where she studied under Professor Mark Schnaible, Alexandra has since performed with companies such as Opera San José, Shakespeare Opera Theatre, Snug Harbor Cultural Center, and Classic Lyric Arts. She previously trained at the Opera Academy at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts, the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Operastudio 67, and Operastudio Kapellsberg. Her operatic repertoire includes Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), Dorabella (Così fan tutte), Idamante (Idomeneo), Olga (Eugene Onegin), Niklausse and La Voix (Les Contes d’Hoffmann), Stephano (Roméo et Juliette), Mercedes (Carmen), Flora Bervoix (La Traviata), Zweite Dame (Die Zauberflöte), Venus (Orphée aux Enfers), La Ciesca (Gianni Schicchi), La Prima Sorella (Suor Angelica), Jean Vicomte de Morcef (Le Portrait de Manon), Katie Sandwina (Katie: The Strongest of the Strong), Lady-in-Waiting (Macbeth), and Lapák the Dog (The Cunning Little Vixen). During her years in New York, Alexandra has also appeared in concerts at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Merkin Hall, and Town Hall, performing alongside world-renowned artists including Nadine Sierra and SeokJong Baek. She is a recipient of the Mae Zenke Orvis Opera Scholarship and the International Advisory Board Scholarship, which fully funded her education at Manhattan School of Music. Her distinctions include Third Prize in the Alan M. and Joan Taub Ades Vocal Competition (2023) and an Encouragement Award in the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition (2023).
